about

I'm beginning to sense a loose "theme" while I run through these notes. TSOS is yet another that deals with an inner monologue of negativity. This time coming from someone I was in a long and fraught relationship with. It seemed like there was nothing on earth that could distract her from her own suffering. It didn't matter how many wonderful things were in her life. This song was written as a plea to her to see what was going on. I don't think I ever even played it for her. If I had, I'm sure it wouldn't have mattered. Ha!

lyrics

the sound of suffering

i hear your suffering now
on a trail rising up through the clouds
the wind blows your tears over ten thousand fears

i hear your suffering now
through a veil of defiance you howl
there's a sun shining down on us all except the one who refuses to fall

can you hear, can you hear at all?
can you hear, can you hear love call?
through the sound of your suffering can your hear anything else?
yeah, through the sound of your suffering can you see anyone?

i hear your suffering now
it's relentless and constant somehow
in its grip love can never unfold
it is death to whomever it holds

can you hear, can you hear at all?
can you hear, can you hear love call?
through the sound of your suffering can your hear anything else?
yeah, through the sound of your suffering can you see anyone?

can you hear, can you hear at all?
can you hear, can you hear love call?
through the sound of your suffering can your hear anything else?
yeah, through the sound of your suffering can you hear anyone?
